01 — The problem

Known locally, missing on the wider searches

Loyal regulars, decades of trade, and searches like “fish and chips” and “seafood near me” sitting at 21st and 33rd. Six directory listings with eight name, address and phone errors between them, and only two of them claimed.

02 — What we did

Own Darlinghurst, then the category

Direct Local cleaned up the listing data across the web, rebuilt the Google Business Profile around what people order rather than the trading name, and pushed the terms a hungry local actually types: fish and chips, fresh seafood, best seafood, Darlinghurst.

03 — The result

Top of the pack on home turf

First in the Google Maps pack for “fish and chips Darlinghurst” and “fresh seafood Darlinghurst”, second for “best seafood Darlinghurst”, 6,180 profile views a month and 223 customer actions off the back of it.

Battered fish and chips is an underrated dish and Sea Cow gets it right and has done for many years. Everything is just right.

What’s next

The work still in front of us

Darlinghurst is theirs. The unqualified terms — “fish and chips”, “seafood near me” — are where the volume is and where the big rooms still sit, and only eight photos on the profile is leaving something on the table for a business that sells food.

→
Add photos to the profile — eight is not enough
→
Claim the remaining seven directory listings
→
Add Darlinghurst and NSW to the page titles
→
Push the unqualified terms: fish and chips, seafood near me
